Whippet with Wings Pendant

Winged Sighthound, Whippet, Greyhound...they are all beautiful.

This dog with wings was inspired by my own lovely dog Toni who died in May 2016 at the age of 14. She was my best friend for all of those years so this pendant was created in celebration of her life. I've include a couple of pictures of her here - one when she was just a pup, one middle-aged which was taken by the Crafts Council of Ireland as my portrait shot and then one when she was old, sleeping on the couch in my workshop early one morning.

I got Toni from the Dublin SPCA when she was about 8 weeks old. She was a birthday present from me to me that August. She had been dropped into the DSPCA when she was only a few days old, the rest of the litter was dead and her mother was nowhere to be found. They were certain she would die but gave her to a cat that had just had kittens...and cats, being very maternal, took her on as one of her own. She drank the cat's milk just like the others and 8 weeks later I adopted her. Toni was a superb dog and I loved her so much.

Handmade from sterling silver. The 18" popcorn chain, also S/S, is threaded through the wings. The body is highly polished and the wings are frosted.
